A Really Fun Weekend

Last weekend (November 13-15) I went to AtomaCon 2015, and had a great time! There were great guests, cool stuff in the Dealer's room and terrific panels!

The Guests of Honor were:

Author - Robert J. Sawyer (http://www.sfwriter.com)

Science – Brian Malow (http://sciencecomedian.com)

Artists – Don Maitz (http://www.paravia.com/DonMaitz/website/index.html)
and Janny Wurts (http://www.paravia.com/JannyWurts/website/index.html)

Rich Sigfrit was the Master of Ceremonies

Filk Guest of Honor Teri Wachowiak was not able to attend

I went to a bunch of panels, but not as many as I could have. I don't have all that much energy anymore. I really liked the panels featuring Robert J. Sawyer and Brian Malow. The panel on Consciousness was especially good, and thought provoking.

I picked up a print from Don Maitz called Undefeated. It's a gorgeous picture of a dragon who seems very annoyed, but not hurt by a variety of swords, spears and arrows that have been stuck into it. The other Artist GOH, Janny Wurts is also a fine writer, and I got a couple of books from her. To Ride Hell's Chasm and Traitor's Knot. The latter book is book four in a series, but the author assured me that she'd made sure that each novel in the series stood alone, so you could start where ever you want to this the series. I'm going to test that out.

I picked up a few more books from lesser known authors.

The Siver Dragon of Nital by Vik Walker. The author told me it was funny, which closed the sale. The world needs more funny dragons.

The Veneer Clause by Winfield H. Strock III

Going Through the Change (A Menopausal Superhero Novel) by Samantha Bryant

The Mussorgsky Riddle by Darin Kennedy

I went to a couple of pre-launch book events, and have two more books to get.

An Improbable Truth: The Paranormal Adventures of Sherlock Holmes edited by A. C. Thompson
Vendetta: A Deadly Curiosities Novel by Gail Z. Martin, which I had already pre-ordered.
